Mahila Police Thana, morning — light chatter, chai, and anticipation.
Pushpa Ji looked up from her register, her brows furrowed thoughtfully.
PJ: “Pata nahi, ab yeh nayi SHO kaise hongi…”
Karishma leaned back, sipping her chai, equally curious.
KS: “Haan… hum bhi wahi soch rahe the.”
SS: “Aur agar bohot hi strict nikli toh? Fir toh gayi bhais paani mein…”
The usual baikati (banter) was in full swing when the sudden roar of a police jeep interrupted the mood. Everyone stood up alert—this was it. The new SHO was here.
They rushed out, eager yet anxious, the gate adorned with a modest welcome. A bouquet in hand, hearts pounding.
And then… she stepped out.
A tall, graceful woman with sharp eyes, a calm authority in her stride, rolling her stick casually, and a warm, dazzling smile.
She walked up to them, and even though no one had planned it… it happened.
All together, instinctively, with unexpected admiration:
“Jai Hind, Madam Sir…”
She smiled, the kind that made people feel safe and seen.
HM: “Jai Hind.”
Karishma stepped forward and offered the bouquet.
KS: “Hum sab ki taraf se apka swagat hai, Madam Sir.”
HM (accepting it with grace): “Aap logon ko itni takleef karne ki zarurat nahi thi… par thank you, itna sweet welcome dene ke liye. Ab agar aap humein humara cabin dikha dein… aur baad mein apna introduction bhi.”
Everyone:
“Ji, Madam Sir. Chaliye.”
They showed her around. Introductions were exchanged.
And then finally—
HM (smiling warmly):
“Hum hain SHO Haseena Malik. Aur aap sabse milke bohot accha laga.”
Everyone, already a little charmed:
“Hume bhi, Madam Sir.”
Just then, a familiar voice called out. Billu entered, casual and slightly awkward. Tension rose among the team.
Would this new SHO allow him to stay?
PJ (nervously):
“Madam Sir, jab humari purani SHO ke saath ek case solve karne gaye the, tabhi Billu mila tha. Pehle chor tha, par chori-chakari chhod chuka hai. Ab toh humare cases solve karne mein madad karta hai… bohot imandari se. Hum sab ise test kar chuke hain.”
SS:
“Haan Madam Sir, agar isne kabhi kuch galat kiya toh hum sab zimmedar honge. Par hum bas itna chahte hain… ki aap ek baar use azma ke dekhein.”
They waited, breath held, assuming rejection.
But her answer surprised them all.
HM (calm, thoughtful):
“Ji nahi… hum ise azmana nahi chahte.”
Everyone’s face fell, they all thought that she would not allow him to stay as obviously —first when they met him they too did not believe in him they all got sad that she is not allowing him to stay) kyuke ap sab ab humari team hai aur ap sabko jab inpar itna vishwas hai toh hume koi problem nahi hai inke yaha rehne se.. aur sirf aplog kyu zimmedar honge hum bhi honge kyuke hum sab ab ek team hai.
HM (continuing):
“kyuke ap sab ab humari team hai aur ap sabko jab inpar itna vishwas hai toh hume koi problem nahi hai inke yaha rehne se.. aur sirf aplog kyu zimmedar honge hum bhi honge kyuke hum sab ab ek team hai. .”
She turned to Billu.
HM (softly):
“Tumse milkar acha laga, Billu. Galat raaste se sahi raaste par aana ek himmat ka kaam hai. Aur jo insaan badlav chahta hai, us par vishwas kiya jaana chahiye.”
Billu (teary, overwhelmed):
“Thank you so much, Madam Sir… thank you!”
HM (with a gentle smile):
“Hume thank you kehne ki zarurat nahi hai. Bas apna kaam imandari se karte raho.”
The whole team was beaming now. She had won their hearts effortlessly.
HM:
“Karishma Singh, current cases ki files mil sakti hain? Baaki sab bhi apne kaam par laut jaaiye… agar koi zarurat ho toh hume bula lijiye.”
KS:
“Ji Madam Sir, abhi late hain.”
All (in chorus):
“Jai Hind, Madam Sir.”
HM (smiling):
“Jai Hind.”
They all went back, but not far—outside her cabin, the team huddled together again, whispering their thoughts like schoolkids after meeting a favorite teacher.
SS (whispering):
“Kitni achhi hain na Madam Sir… hum toh khamakha darr rahe the!”
KS (grinning):
“Bilkul… bilkul sahi bola tumne.”
PJ (softly):
“haan aur unke khyal bhi unhi ki tarah ache hai kitne ache se apni team par vishwas krkr billu ko humare saath rakhne ki ijazat dedi.”
ks: “haa wahi toh am ko toh billu ko azmane ke baad bhi uspar vishwas nahi araha tha..”
ss: “haan usse azmane ke baad bhi wo keh rahi thi..”
—FLASHBACK—
AM (firmly):
“Hume ab bhi nahi lagta ki Billu ko yahan rehne dena chahiye… chor tha, chor hi rahega.”
Everyone (pleading):
“Sirf ek mauka dijiye… hum sab billu ki zimmedari lete hain…”
and after everyone convencing her alot she agreed..
AM (finally):
“Theek hai. Agar billu ne kuch bhi galat kiya, toh zimmedar aap sab honge.”
—FLASHBACK ENDS—
PJ (with emotion):
“haan boht pyaari ladki hai... agar humari beti hoti toh bilkul inki tarah hoti.. na koi senior hone ka ruyab, na koi gussa bas apni pyari si muskaan aur apne ache khyal.. humara dil toh unhe apni beti maan chuka pehli mulaqat mai hi ek alag connection feel horaha unse..”
ks : “kiya baat hai pj pehli baar kisi ko apni beti keh rahi hai nahi toh humesha toh badi behen ya badii hi musqil se apni chhoti behen kehti hai..”
ss: “ pushpee sach kaha apne unke itne achi batein sunkar mujhe bhi ek alag connection feel howa unse ek badi behen wala..”
cc: “wese sach kahe toh hume bhi wo bilkul humari badi behen jese lagi bilkul saaf dil ki bohr achi insaan lagi hume bhi wo..”
ks : “ wese agar hum kahe ke hume kuch connection feel nahi howa toh wo jhoot hoga kyuke unka hum sab par vishwas, unke khyalat sunke hum unhe apni best friend banana chahte hai..”
pj : “dekha humne kaha na unme ek alag apnepan ki kashish hai isliye pehli mulaqat mai hi hum sab unse connected feel kr rahe hai..”
Everyone (smiling):
“Sahi kaha PJ…”
They were still basking in the warmth of their new SHO… when suddenly—
A strong presence entered the thana.
Boots clicking. Crisp uniform. Commanding aura.
